Who we are

Tutoring by someone who's been there, done that

Theo Sturman Tutoring is a small group of Cambridge students helping applicants through admissions tests, interviews and the subjects their offers depend on. Want the full story? Read the founder's note below.

A note from the founder

Hi, I'm Theo, the founder of Theo Sturman Tutoring.

I'm now going into my second year studying Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. I've been tutoring for 3 years now, covering KS3, GCSE, A-level and Cambridge admissions, helping students exceed their predicted grades and receive offers. Over that time I've learnt a lot and built a method that I believe gives students the best chance at competitive applications.

No Oxbridge admissions tutor you see online has the same level of experience as someone who's actually sat the exam, considering only a few cohorts have taken it.

This year I tutored students for the ESAT, and I'm proud to say that several of them went on to secure places at Cambridge, for both Natural Sciences and Engineering.

As someone who's been through the Cambridge application and interview process, I'm passionate about helping others succeed in the same way. That's why I set up Theo Sturman Tutoring: to connect more students with tutors across different subjects.

You learn best from someone with real experience. That's what sets us apart from the big tutoring firms. You'll be paired with one tutor who guides you through every part of your application and personalises every session to you.

Good luck with your application, you've got this!

What we cover

Every step of the application

From the admissions test to the final interview, we've got you covered.

Admissions Tests

ESAT, MAT, UCAT and STEP. Through our own revision we found techniques that genuinely lift your score, and we share them with you alongside targeted, timed practice. Given the new format of many admissions tests, anyone who is not a current undergraduate won't have real experience of these admissions tests. Choosing us is choosing to be tutored by people who've actually sat the exam.

Interview Preparation

Subject-specific mock interviews with real and honest feedback. We look to expose students to problems that they won't have seen before and focus on honing interview techniques and presentation. An Oxbridge interview is always going to be nerve-wracking, but our mock interviews will give you the tools you'll need to work calmly under pressure and deliver a strong performance.

Personal Statements

We also help with your personal statement: shaping a clear structure, sharpening how you write about your subject, and making sure your genuine interest and wider reading come across to admissions tutors.

A-Level & GCSE Support

Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and more. Secure the grades your offer depends on, taught by people who aced them.

Full Application Strategy

College choice, course fit and timeline planning. We help you build a coherent, confident application from start to submission.

Disclaimer: These sessions are designed to supplement the hard work you're already putting into your own studies. They are meant to expose you to difficult, unseen questions to help build your confidence, but the majority of your preparation should be done independently. The content we covered during our own applications and interviews is confidential and will not be shared with future applicants. While we can't guarantee success in your application, we can assure you that the most important factor is your genuine passion for your subject and the effort you put into preparing on your own.
